Research into native tissue repair underway...

This study is called the 'SPOP Study'. Dr Felicity Gould is the clinical lead and chief investigator for this study. We aim to recruit 240 women undergoing native tissue vaginal surgery over the next two years at the study sites in Cambridge and Melbourne.

The latest result of collaboration between the Departments of Urogynaecology at the Royal Womens Hospital Australia and the Department of Urogynaecology Addenbrookes Hospital Cambridge UK, is a dual centre study looking at the optimisation of outcomes for native tissue vaginal surgery. This study is called the 'SPOP Study'. Dr Felicity Gould is the clinical lead and chief investigator for this study. We aim to recruit 240 women undergoing native tissue vaginal surgery over the next two years at the study sites in Cambridge and Melbourne. Participants will be followed for two years post surgery to assess outcomes. Stay tuned for more information as we started recruitment in early 2017....

Brown Craig Travel Fellowship 2016

The fellowship allowed Dr Gould to travel to Cambridge United Kingdom and undertake clinical research in the Department of Urogynaecology at Addenbrookes Hospital - Cambridge University Hospital from January 2016 until July 2016. 

Dr Felicity Gould was the recipient of the Brown Craig Travel Fellowship for 2016. This fellowship was awarded by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists  for travel to Cambridge UK to facilitate clinical research and work in the field of Urogynaecology. The fellowship allowed Dr Gould to travel to Cambridge United Kingdom and undertake clinical research in the Department of Urogynaecology at Addenbrookes Hospital - Cambridge University Hospital from January 2016 until July 2016. 

Whilst in the UK, Dr Gould continued her RANZCOG sub-specialist Urogynaecologist training under the supervision of Dr Mark Slack (Consultant Urogynaecologist and Clinical Lead Cambridge). Working alongside the team in Cambridge, Dr Gould has commenced valuable research which will continue in the both the UK and Australia. In addition to undertaking such exciting research, Dr Gould forged a strong connection with the team in Cambridge which will see long term clinical collaboration for many years to come.

Dr Gould presents at Pelvic Floor Week - Seattle USA

Dr Gould presented this research at the American Urogynaecologic Society Annual Scientific Meeting in Seattle USA.

Dr Gould presented this research at the American Urogynaecologic Society Annual Scientific Meeting in Seattle USA. This research consists of pilot results looking at bacteria that may be present on vaginal ring pessaries. Dr Gould is currently completing a much larger cohort study of vaginal pessary users, their symptoms and microbiological results of pessary biofilms to determine if pathogens exist on vaginal pessaries. This larger study has completed recruitment and specimen collection. Results will be published in 2017.
